The Phantasmal, your handheld nightmare, is an entertainment and production company that produces horror content, in cinematic and written formats.

We are passionate, devout fans of the horror genre who love the paranormal, the terrifying, disturbing and supernatural.

For us, horror is not just about “scaring” people, but it is in and of itself a work of art, one which often touches on the deepest questions of the human condition. Modern horror originates with Gothic literature, which itself emerged in the 18th century as a reaction to modernity and rationalism.

As we discarded a world of superstition and religion, authors began to explore the dark and supernatural as distinctive metaphors and romanticism to express matters of good and evil, life and death, and even fear of technological progress.

Finally, horror also stems from what Edward Burke described as the human longing for the “sublime”, our fascination for things which are “unusual” and “uncanny”. Our organisation, internationally based and making works both in East Asia and Britain, is here to deliver it all.
